About the painting
Three anglers stand in silhouette on a spine of black rock above the sea at Cape Point. They cast their lines into a sunset that is slow to let go.
The cliff was painted dark first, then scraped back so flecks of warmth could climb out from underneath. The sky is a single sweep of cadmium and rose, brushed wet into wet so the colour breathes. It now lives with a private collector.
