About the painting
An Overberg wheat field and a single tree, with a storm gathering itself above them. The exact second before the first drop.
The sky was painted in one long pull of oil and turpentine, and kept wet until the eye of the storm appeared on its own. The field came afterwards in dry brush, laid gold over gold.
